1ct D-VS1 IGI lab grown. I did my research. I read the blogs. Everyone said "lab diamonds are the smart choice." Nobody mentioned that prices were going to fall off a cliff.
Blue Nile's current price for the same stone: $980. Mine appraised at $800 last month.
I'm not angry at lab diamonds. I'm angry that every single piece of content online in 2021-2022 was cheerleading lab diamonds without a single honest word about the resale risk. The same bloggers who told me to "save money with lab" are now writing articles about "why lab diamond prices dropped" like they had no idea it was coming.
If you're buying lab, buy it knowing it's worth $0 the day you walk out of the store. Don't let anyone frame it as a "smart financial decision."

@ryan — That's fair, and I'd agree with you if anyone had said that upfront. The problem is they were actively framing lab diamonds as the financially smart choice. "Get a bigger stone for less money AND keep its value." That was the pitch. That pitch was dishonest.
